There are two surprises with this picture, which I discovered later
as I was looking through the night's pictures.
Surprise #1: Look carefully in the leaves on the left side of the
picture. That's a spring peeper happily peeping away only inches
from a bullfrog who would pounce-grab-gobble if the peeper jumped.
Surprise #2: That spring peeper is THE SAME ONE in the other
April 3 picture — the one in the acorn cap! You can see the acorn cap
here, and I can tell it's the same peeper by markings visible in other
shots I took of this same scene.
This picture was taken at 9 pm. The peeper-in-acorn picture was taken at 10 pm, an hour later. The bullfrog
had hopped away, and the peeper had — fortunately for him — stayed still (except for the peeping).
